About Scholarly Transitions
About Scholarly Transitions
I started Scholarly Transitions because I saw too many brilliant people struggling to find their way. With the academic job market continually shrinking, and the scarcity of tenure-track positions has left many PhDs questioning what came next -- whether that meant building a life inside higher education or pursuing new opportunities beyond it. Over time, I met tenured faculty who wanted to leave but didn’t know how, and graduate students who felt trapped by the unspoken belief that anything outside academia was “less than.”
At the same time, I noticed something else: the lack of real, practical guidance for social science and humanities PhDs navigating their professional options. There were resources for STEM graduates and industry pipelines in place—but not much for the rest of us.
That’s why I created Scholarly Transitions: to give social science and humanities PhDs the support they deserve.
Through a mix of coaching and consulting, I help scholars turn uncertainty into direction—connecting reflection, strategy, and storytelling to design careers that feel both purposeful and sustainable. My goal isn’t just to help you find your next role; it’s to equip you with lifelong tools for navigating whatever comes next.
You don’t need to fit into a prewritten academic story. You get to write your own.

My Purpose
Scholarly Transitions grew from my conviction that PhDs are adaptable thinkers and leaders who deserve fulfilling, well-supported careers. I work with clients to clarify their goals, articulate their expertise, and pursue opportunities where their knowledge can thrive—whether inside or beyond the academy.
Through individual and group coaching, I help clients gain clarity, confidence, and concrete strategies for building careers that align with their values and strengths.
Everything I do is grounded in a simple vision: a world where PhDs are recognized for their creativity, rigor, intelligence, and insight—and where no scholar feels undervalued or stuck in a system that doesn’t see their full potential.
